Saving Animals~Supporting Families~Serving Community

HALO (Helping Animals Lost and Orphaned) is a 501(c)(3) organization is affordable and practical. We offer behavior modification, training, boarding, and daycare with a Board Certified Behaviorist. We assist shelters and rescue organizations and also serve private clients throughout Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and surrounding areas.

You must make an appointment to come to our facility.

We work with behavior dogs and visitors must remain in their vehicles until notified to exit by staff. **This is for your safety as well as the dogs.**

Office hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm.

We are closed Sunday and Monday.

HALO's mission is to reduce the population of owner-surrendered animals in shelters. We do this by offering other options such as behavior modification, training tools, pet food, and assistance with medical treatments to those individuals facing financial challenges. HALO offers services that are discounted significantly for the public. We ensure that behavior modification and training services are affordable to those needing help. We inspire pet owners to keep the promise they made to their pet to care for them forever and we will ensure that cost will never be an issue. HALO hopes to be an inspiration to the community by teaching humane treatment to animals and their owners.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization.

Regina Willen, is a Neuroscience and Physiology Scientist. She is a board certified applied animal behaviorist  (ACAAB) with the Animal Behavior Society (ABS) and is an animal behavior consultant with the International Association Of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She has extensively studied the behavior of shelter dogs in and out of the shelter. She specializes in creating behavior programs that are practical for shelter staff, volunteers, and the busy family. She has successfully implemented a behavior modification and an enrichment program in a county shelter in Dayton, Ohio, which has saved hundreds of lives. Regina uses scientific research, psychology, and physiology to understand your best friend's behavior. She will create an easy to understand and practical behavior plan and will support you every step of the way until you're comfortable implementing the plan and happy with the results.

What makes Regina stand out from other Behaviorists? Regina is one of only two Board Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (ACAAB) in Ohio. She is also a Behavior Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Regina has worked extensively with dogs that have displayed behaviors such as:

  • Extreme fearfulness

  • Chronic stress

  • Lack of socialization

  • Separation anxiety

  • Compulsive behaviors (tail chasing, spinning, object obsession, fly biting)

  • Food aggression

  • Resource guarding (toys, bed, house, yard)

  • Aggression (e.g. barrier, play, dominance, predatory, fear and pain).

During your pet’s stay, he/she will be housed in an 10x10 room with French doors, containing a day bed, tv, essential oil diffuser, and a camera for the director to monitor during his/her stay. It is truly a home away from home in a safe, stress-free environment.

Your dog will be included in a small play group and allow your dog ample time to play in our 5-acre fenced yard, or a  privacy fenced in yard. Your dog will have time to rest with staff and receive cuddles and toys in our living room. They will receive special attention and not want for anything while you are away!
